PLASTISOL INK PRINTING
Plastisol ink is by far the most common method of printing designs on to a garment, and it is a great option when printing bright designs on to black or coloured garments.
This type of ink sits above the fabric instead of other print options like discharge that dye the fibers of a garment, it also has a slight rubbery feel to it.
Another advantage is that plastisol ink will hold a brightly coloured image for many years when cared for properly. It is a very hard wearing ink and wont fade over time, making it perfect for high quality printing on to a wide range of garments.
DTG – DIRECT TO GARMENT PRINTING
Direct to Garment printing is a process of printing onto garments using inkjet technology, the biggest advantage of DTG printing is that there are no setup costs and it allows us to print photo quality artwork straight onto a t-shirt or other garments.
This means full colour designs that don’t have to be subject to the limitations of traditional screen printing.
While there is a cost difference for DTG printing, the clear advantage is being able to print photo quality artwork without any setup costs involved.
VINYL CUT HEAT PRESS PRINTING
Vinyl Cut Heat Press printing is a great option for small print runs as there is no setup fees.
The print process involves a media cutting machine that cuts your logo or design out of vinyl media, we then remove the excess vinyl media that is not part of the design once it has been cut (referred to as weeding) and the final step is to then heat press the design onto the garment. This cures the print to the garment and is then ready to be worn.
Vinyl Cut Heat Press printing does require a vector image to determine the cut lines to be made into the vinyl, but don’t worry we can help redraw your artwork or logo to make it suitable for print.
This method of printing is commonly used for one off tees for a special event like a Buck’s or Hen’s Night, individual names and numbers on sporting jerseys and for sampling/prototyping designs for screen print production.
We don’t just offer vinyl cut heat press printing onto garments, we can also print onto caps via this method (onto caps with no centre seam across the front of the cap) the most popular types of caps used are Trucker Caps and Snapback Caps.
WATER BASED INK PRINTING
Water Based ink printing will be the ideal choice of ink for customers looking to print onto t-shirts, kids garments or tea towels. The main advantage being that water based ink gives a soft touch feel, it transfers the dye and pigments into the garment rather that sitting above the surface of the fabric like plastisol ink.
However the disadvantage is that water based ink does not wear as well as plastisol ink in the long term and the printed colours can sometimes fade out quicker after being washed over time.
DISCHARGE INK PRINTING
Discharge ink is the perfect printing option for that soft touch vintage feel, the main difference is that discharge ink actually bleaches the garments fibers, compared to tradition plastisol ink that sits above the fabric.
Apparel labels looking to take their prints to the next level might look at discharge ink.
This style of printing does have its complications however, for example black t-shirts that are printed with discharge ink will end up being bleached to a ivory bone colour instead of a bright white and that may not suit your design.
GLOW IN THE DARK INK PRINTING
Glow in the Dark ink is a really interesting way to give your prints a way to stand out!
The process for printing Glow in the Dark ink is simple, all we need to do is have a white ink underneath the areas you wish to print with Glow in the Dark ink and we can then print over the top of the white as the ink itself is quite translucent allowing the print to look almost the same except for a slight yellow tint.
GRAPHIC DESIGN & ARTWORK PRINT PREP
We have an in house graphic design team to take care of all your artwork and design requirements. What this means is that you are in good hands, we understand the print process back to front and know how to best print your artwork or design onto t-shirts.
If we need to adjust or get your artwork ready for print, we can handle all of that in house, saving you time and money.
We also take the guess work out of placing an order, by providing a detailed digital mockup for your approval prior to proceeding to print your tees.
Born and Thread offers embroidery for custom apparel items, such as beanies, caps, polos, t-shirts, business shirts, bags and many more items.
For your convenience we take care of all the digitizing of your design to the correct embroidery format. Embroidery is priced based on a stitch count and is usually broken down per thousand stitches and priced accordingly.
Please keep in mind that embroidery may require your design to be simplified slightly to achieve the best results.
CUSTOM NECK LABELS, PIP TAGS & RELABELLING
It’s the little details that can make the difference, we offer custom neck labels and pip tags printed for your company or apparel brand.
We have a wide range of labels we can produce, as you can see listed below. Each style of label can be supplied in either half fold, loop fold, end fold, mitre fold and straight cut.
Don’t know what that all means? That’s ok, while the most popular is printed satin labels for their soft, smooth comfortable feel, we can help with suggesting the best option for your labels to suit your company or apparel brand.
Once your custom labels have been produced we can then have them attached to the garments in your print order, either replacing the neck label or even being used a pip tag on the sleeves or bottom hem of the garment. We make it easy to custom brand your apparel!
