SCREEN PRINTING – PLASTISOL INK

Plastisol ink is by far the most common method of screen printing designs on to a garment, and it is a great option when printing bright designs on to black or coloured garments.

This type of ink sits above the fabric instead of other print options like discharge that dye the fibers of a garment.

Another advantage is that plastisol ink will hold a brightly coloured image for many years when cared for properly. It is a very hard wearing ink and wont fade over time, making it perfect for high quality printing on to a wide range of garments.

SPECIALTY INKS & PROCESSES

We have a whole list of specialty inks that can be used as part of screen printing onto garments, like the list below..

  • METALLIC SHIMMER INK
  • PUFF INK
  • GLOW IN THE DARK INK
  • CRYSTALINA FLAKE INK
  • CMYK PROCESS PRINTING
  • SIMULATED PROCESS PRINTING

To expand of the specialty inks and processes listed above..
METALLIC INK is a fantastic option to add a Metallic Gold, Silver or Bronze to your design, imagine a screen print of a trophy and its printed in Metallic Gold ink adding that metallic look and shine to the print!

With PUFF INK printing it allows for part of the design to be raised once printed, this is a great option to highlight part of your design giving it almost a 3D effect. Keep in mind that Puff Ink works best with thicker details rather than fine dots / linework.

GLOW IN THE DARK INK is such a fun but subtle option to add something extra to your design, it works best over the top of white artwork in your design and can almost like a hidden easter egg as the Glow in the Dark ink doesn’t show up until in a dark enviroment!

Looking for something really different and effective? CRYSTALINA FLAKE INK is one of our favourite options to add to a design due to its large glitter particles that allow the layer of ink below to show through, meaning you give any ink colour a metallic effect! Want your purple logo design to look like a metallic purple ink? Crystalina Flake Ink is the go to option.

Lastly lets talk about CMYK PROCESS and SIMULATED PROCESS PRINTING, when a design or artwork is screen printed onto a garment, usually the limiting factor is how many colours can be printed (each colour requires its own screen), however when it comes to CMYK Process and Simulated Process Printing we use a technique of halftone dots to add more detail and colours to the design. CMYK Process printing is a great option for photo style prints that have many variations of colour because it mixes the colours live on the printed area by using the specialty translucent CMYK Inks (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black) which uses halftone dots in different varying amounts to mix thousands of colours right on your garment.

Then when it comes to SIMULATED PROCESS PRINTING, thats similar to the translucent CMYK Inks, except we use specific spot colour inks that aren’t translucent and won’t mix together but still utilise the halftone dots to feather out the edges and fine details in the design where CMYK colours might be too unpredictable to get the desired ink colour and result.

DIRECT TO FILM TRANSFERS

Direct to Film transfer printing is the perfect option for small or large print runs when the artwork isn’t suitable for screen printing.
The way these transfers are made is printing a liquid print down onto a plastic film, that allows for full detail and millions of colour options when printing out the design, we then expertly heat press them onto garments for you.

DTF (Direct to Film Transfers) are a great product for prototyping a design prior to print production as this method doesn’t have a print minimum, we can produce just a single item for you to see and test if it will be suitable for your needs!

EMBROIDERY DECORATION

Born and Thread offers embroidery for custom apparel items, such as beanies, caps, polos, t-shirts, business shirts, bags and many more items.

For your convenience we take care of all the digitizing of your design to the correct embroidery format. Embroidery is priced based on a stitch count and is usually broken down per thousand stitches and priced accordingly.

Please keep in mind that embroidery may require your design to be simplified slightly to achieve the best results.

VINYL CUT HEAT PRESS PRINTING

Vinyl Cut Heat Press printing is a great option for small print runs as there is no setup fees.
The print process involves a media cutting machine that cuts your logo or design out of vinyl media, we then remove the excess vinyl media that is not part of the design once it has been cut (referred to as weeding) and the final step is to then heat press the design onto the garment. This cures the print to the garment and is then ready to be worn.

Vinyl Cut Heat Press printing does require a vector image to determine the cut lines to be made into the vinyl, but don’t worry we can help redraw your artwork or logo to make it suitable for print.

This method of printing is commonly used for one off tees for a special event like a Buck’s or Hen’s Night, individual names and numbers on sporting jerseys and for sampling/prototyping designs for screen print production.

We don’t just offer vinyl cut heat press printing onto garments, we can also print onto caps via this method (onto caps with no centre seam across the front of the cap) the most popular types of caps used are Trucker Caps and Snapback Caps.

GRAPHIC DESIGN & ARTWORK PRINT PREP

We have an in house graphic design team to take care of all your artwork and design requirements.  What this means is that you are in good hands, we understand the print process back to front and know how to best print your artwork or design onto t-shirts.

If we need to adjust or get your artwork ready for print, we can handle all of that in house, saving you time and money.

We also take the guess work out of placing an order, by providing a detailed digital mockup for your approval prior to proceeding to print your tees.

CUSTOM NECK LABELS, PIP TAGS & RELABELLING

It’s the little details that can make the difference, we offer custom neck labels and pip tags printed for your company or apparel brand.

We have a wide range of labels we can produce, as you can see listed below. Each style of label can be supplied in either half fold, loop fold, end fold, mitre fold and straight cut.

Don’t know what that all means? That’s ok, while the most popular is printed satin labels for their soft, smooth comfortable feel, we can help with suggesting the best option for your labels to suit your company or apparel brand.

Once your custom labels have been produced we can then have them attached to the garments in your print order, either replacing the neck label or even being used a pip tag on the sleeves or bottom hem of the garment. We make it easy to custom brand your apparel!

MERCHANDISE TAGGING, FOLDING & BAGGING

For the t-shirt brand or apparel company looking for that more professional touch or just wanting to keep your printed garments clean and organised, we also offer t-shirt folding, swing tagging and bagging as an optional extra service.

We can help design and print your own custom branded swing tags to be attached to your garments, making them ready for sale or just to add that more professional branded touch to your apparel range.

Folding and bagging is what can set your brand or apparel brand apart from the rest and give your customers a high quality branded product.
Our t-shirt bags are semi opaque compostable sealed bags that we include a small white size sticker on each bag so you know exactly what stock sizes you have available without even having to look at your neck label.

We will even include a sticker or thank you card in each bag should you want them included inside each folded and bagged garment.
